Ghee – Healthy, Purified Butter

How To Purify Butter So You Can Enjoy All The Taste

Written by ivonka1 Comment

In my home, we use ghee instead of oil.  Everything cooked or fry with Ghee tastes so much better, and it’s so much healthier than oil or butter.

  • It doesn’t burn easily so we can use it for deep-frying, pan-frying, etc.
  • It’s easy to digest.
  • We can store it right on the counter and it lasts a long time.
  • It’s said to have healing powers, stimulate the digestive system.
  • Helps in weight loss and is a good choice for people with high cholesterol.

Start with 3 lb. of organic butter.

Melt it on low heat.

Keep it boiling on low heat. After about 20 minutes the butter should clear up.

When the solid part separates on the bottom of the pot,

pour the ghee into a glass container over the cheesecloth.

This is how the final product should look like.

I have been a dedicated vegetarian for over 25 years . During that time I became an expert in healthy living. I raise my kids as conscious vegetarians, aware of the origin of meat. We enjoy a variety of yummy foods like macaroni and cheese, fried rice with tofu, vegan franks and hundreds of other good, nutritious foods. I also love to ride my bike for 15-20 miles almost every day. I ride horses and I can fix any behavioral problem you have with your horse. Yoga is one of my favorite things to do every day. I do head stand and shoulder stand as a part of my yoga routine to improve my memory and well being. To have better balance in life I meditate in silence first thing in the morning. I believe in peaceful solutions to every problem, love instead of war, and unification of religious people.

  1. Thank you Ivonka for re-introducing me to the delicious taste of butter. I stopped cooking with it years ago because of the fat content. I pan-fried homemade hash browns in Ghee this morning. Best ever!!! And it took so little to get them crispy and delicious! Far tastier and crispier than oil. Tonight I’m seasoning some beans with it.
