Foraging for North Florida Wild Edibles

Florida foraging expert Green Deane, from www.EatTheWeeds.com, will teach us to identify a tasty, wild, edible plants in our area. His #1 rule? “Never, ever eat a wild plant without checking with a local expert.” He says the class isn’t about learning botany or memorizing scientific names – just learning to identify some tasty edibles in our area that may never show up in local markets. This four hour class is held rain or shine, except for hurricanes.
Along a one mile route by around the south campus of Florida State College, students will search for cattails, wild mint, rumex, false hawks beard, hollies, hornbeam, sonchus, various palms, chickweed, smilax, wild mustards, pines, oaks, per seas, wax myrtle, Spanish needles, plantains, dandelions, false dandelions and elm.
Reservations are required. Cost: $30 cash on day of class. $35 to pay on his website by PayPal or credit card.
